The handwritten thank you note, thought to be old-fashioned and obsolete with the evolving popularity of email and social media, may actually be one of the most effective marketing strategies any company can use.  Often only thought of by brides and expectant mothers, the handwritten thank you note offers a personal touch to customers, and keeps your company name in their mind for future needs.  However, there are important things to keep in mind before sending handwritten thank you notes.

Do Not Wait Too Long

Although it is never too late to send a thank you note, for effective marketing strategies, you should send the note soon after your discussion, meeting or contact.  Be sure to make the note personal, mentioning something you discussed in the conversation, and mail the note using first-class postage.  If possible, handwrite the envelope as well rather than using an address label printed from a computer.

Take Your Time

Handwriting often gets less legible and neat when we are rushed, so take your time when writing out handwritten thank you notes.  Handwritten notes grab the reader’s attention, but you want to be sure that the recipient can actually read what you have written.  In addition, choose quality stationary for your thank you notes.  When using handwritten thank you notes as an effective marketing strategy, professionally printed stationary may include your company logo, making the thank you note part of your strategic brand management.

Include Promotional Items

Including promotion items in the thank you note is another effective marketing strategy.  The item may be something small, such as a pen or magnet, or a coupon for an item the customer must come into your business to pick up.  You could even include coupons or discounts for products or services on their next visit as an additional “thank you.”

Handwritten thank you notes are one of the most effective marketing strategies, even in today’s electronic world.  In fact, because so many companies use email and social media to thank new and prospective customers, a handwritten note stands out when received in traditional mail.  ModSocket offers many print resources to help you with handwritten thank you letters, and can provide suggestions for more effective marketing strategies to grow your business.  Sign up for a free 30-day trial at www.modsocket.com.
