As a way to honor those lost in the horrific events of September 11, 2001, Entrepreneurs for North Texas, which is a program of the Communities Foundation of Texas, celebrate a National Day of Service and Remembrance, known as Freedom Day. This year, the MODsocket staff will be volunteering at a school for at-risk youth on Freedom Day.

School for At-Risk Youth

The beneficiary of the MODsocket staff’s generosity is the William H. Atwell Middle School/Law Academy, located in South Dallas. MODsocket offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 11, so that all employees can pitch in at the Atwell Middle School, performing necessary maintenance and repairs. Atwell Middle School provides rigorous learning opportunities through joint partnerships with parents, students, staff and the community. The law academy affords students opportunities to learn more about legal professions and interact with members of the community in law-related fields. Their mission is to provide at-risk students the ability to achieve as equally as non-at-risk students.

MODsocket and Ad Giants

For the annual observance of 9/11, a day of tragedy and loss, The Communities Foundation of Texas chose to create positive memories in the Dallas area. This is the seventh year that Ad Giants will participate in the event, and the second year for MODsocket—an especially exciting accomplishment since MODsocket has been around for only two years!  The MODsocket staff plans to take photos of the activities at the school and post them throughout the day.

About Freedom Day

Every year on the anniversary of 9/11, Entrepreneurs of North Texas brings together more than 400 caring volunteers to honor the lives horrifically lost and changed as a result of the terrorist acts in 2001. In our 12th year of marking this event, employees from 45-plus member companies will once again roll up their sleeves to transform the images of tragedy into triumph. We are excited to once again partner with the City of Dallas’ GrowSouth initiative to make a positive impact in Southern Dallas, specifically at the William H. Atwell Middle School/Law Academy.
